PRIVACY
Last updated October 17, 2026. This covers closedloopracing.com and the Closed Loop Telemetry Android app. Plain language, no lawyer tricks. Questions go to closedloopracing@gmail.com.
THE WEBSITE
- Orders. When you buy something we collect your name, shipping address, email, and phone number so we can ship it and reach you about the order. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card number. Shipping labels are bought through EasyPost, which receives your address.
- Emails. If you join the waitlist or request a download, your email goes to our mailing list provider (Kit). Every email has an unsubscribe link. We don't sell or rent the list.
- Analytics and ads. We use the Meta pixel and Vercel Analytics to see which pages get traffic and whether our ads work. The pixel may set cookies and, after a purchase, we send Meta a hashed version of your email so it can match the sale to an ad. You can block this with any ad blocker or browser privacy setting.
- Abandoned carts. If you start checkout, enter your email, and leave, you may get one reminder email with a link back to your cart. One, not a series.
- Keeping it.Order records stay as long as the tax rules say they have to. Email us and we'll delete anything else.
THE TELEMETRY APP
- No account. Recording and reviewing your own sessions needs no sign-up and no login. The one exception is the live pit wall below, which is off until you set it up.
- Location. The app records GPS positions during a session so it can time your laps and draw your line on the track. That data is written to your phone (and to the SD card in the base station if you have one). It stays there unless you export or share a session yourself, or you turn on the live pit wall.
- The live pit wall. Off by default. Leave it off and nothing from a session ever leaves your phone. Turn it on and, while you are driving, the phone sends lap times, GPS positions and sensor readings over your cell connection to a server we run, so a laptop in the pits can watch the car. It is a direct, encrypted connection, and your login only reaches your own car's data. Two things to know: the readings pass through the server and are not kept there, but one line describing the running session — the track, the car and the list of channels — is held so a laptop that joins mid-race knows what it is looking at; and a pit wall login is built to watch several cars at once, so any pit wall account we have issued can see the cars that are publishing. The recording on your phone is the real copy either way. Turn the link off and the sending stops.
- Bluetooth. The app connects to the Closed Loop base station, shock sensor nodes, RaceBox units, and GoPro cameras. It stores their identifiers so it can reconnect. Nothing about your Bluetooth surroundings leaves the phone.
- Maps.Track maps are drawn with Google Maps, which receives the map area being displayed under Google's own privacy policy.
- Crash reports. If a future version adds crash reporting, it will send a stack trace and device model when the app crashes, nothing from your sessions. We'll update this page when that happens.
- Deleting your data. Delete a session in the app, or uninstall the app and everything it stored on the phone goes with it.
